SECTION 1 OF THE EXAMINATION – TESTING ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE
CASE STUDY
- Stick to Case Study and avoid any general theory. Half marks awarded for any general theory that does not specifically apply to the Case Study
- Match the answer length to the marks do not write down everything that you know
- Use your own words and avoid copying from the CS
- Give reasons/explanations that are strong to get best chance of being awarded marks
- Develop points with more than one justification
- Be realistic and avoid speculation
- When you actually use the financial information you are likely to be awarded more marks – markers will be impressed
- Make several main points in an answer
SECTION 2 OF THE EXAMINATION – TESTING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
ESSAYS
- Use theory to answer questions – this is a chance to show off your knowledge
- Make general theory points
- There will no longer be references to the Case Study in the essay questions in section 2
- Use examples from class work to expand your answers
REPORT
- Small business is better
- Strategy must be current
- Sources of information – this refers to where the business get the information from that would make them decide upon this strategy not where the pupil got their info from to write up their report. Ask the owner “what info did you use to help you decide this stategy”
